Our History
Gungahlin Bible Church first gathered at Harrison School on April 18th 2021 as a church plant from Southside Bible Church. Around 50 adults and children, most living in or around the Gungahlin region, were sent from Southside to be part of this new church. Dom Fiocco and Adam Chessum left their pastoral roles at Southside and were appointed pastors of GBC. Dom, as the church planter, met with a small planting team for 6 months leading up to the launch of this new evangelical church on Canberra’s landscape.
Planting in 2021 was a difficult year because of Covid lockdowns and much sickness not long after we began. Through these trying months God proved His faithfulness and continued to watch over this young church family. After months of lockdowns we re-gathered again and in God’s kindness by November 2022, had outgrown Harrison School and re-located to Franklin School.
In God’s kindness, as the church grew, in 2024 we commissioned Aggie Mok as our Women’s Ministry Worker and Dom was recognised as the Lead Pastor, with Adam in the role of Pastor / Evangelist. Nerida Stevens was also recognised with her gifts as a Ministry Support Worker. In late April 2025 we re-located to Shirley Smith High School in Kenny. (We had to move from Franklin School because we no longer had facilities to run our children’s ministries on Sundays.) In May we also employed Jessica Gajardo Sabag as a part-time admin worker to help with the growing administration needs of the church.
